Panel: The Need for Speed - Building the Real-Time Enterprise
|
Your company is a process and information machine that, over the last few years, has been stripped down and substantially rebuilt with net generation technologies. The engine is warming up. The key question is how fast can it go ? And how fast is safe or desirable? Welcome to the 'Real Time Enterprise' - a concept that will become the core focus of attention for your enterprise architects and business strategists over the next few years. (41A) Mastermind Keynote: Walt Disney Company CIO Panel - Real-Time in Real Life
|
When Michael Tasooji became the Chief Information Officer of The Walt Disney Company in 2000, the company had two dozen Business Unit CIO’s planning/executing over 1,000 projects, supporting over 4,000 systems, and sourcing from over 1,300 technology vendors. His challenge was to take significant cost out of IT while enhancing service levels and continuing to deliver on value-generating strategic initiatives. As Disney IT is well underway in achieving these objectives, he attributes the success largely to bringing the IT leadership together as a team, establishing a new enterprise architecture, and delivery of select IT services using a shared services model.
Roger Berry, CIO at Walt Disney World, is demonstrating The Business Value of IT through "Destination Disney," which is transforming the entire sales, marketing and guest service delivery processes for Walt Disney World Resort through use of technology.
ESPN’s Tony Tamburo, Senior Vice President of MIS, will talk about the ESPN sports network as a living example of The Real-Time Enterprise. Through leading-edge IT deployment, ESPN viewers receive moment-by-moment updates from hundreds of locations worldwide. The surprising news: costs have actually decreased.
