2002 Mastermind Keynote Address

Mastermind Keynotes:
The View from the Top

Friday, 4 October 2002

Symposium/ITxpo is renowned for presenting the world's most influential IT business leaders in live, one-to-one Q and A sessions with Gartner analysts who are not afraid to ask the tough questions.

Gartner's Mastermind Keynotes go beyond canned speeches to elicit from technology CEOs revealing insights that frequently make news, confirm trends and shatter illusions.

The Mastermind Keynotes will be kicked off on Monday with the Welcome Address from Michael D. Fleisher, Chairman and CEO of Gartner, Inc. He will introduce the theme of Symposium/ITxpo 2002, which will be the subject of the Keynote panel which follows his speech: "The Need for Speed - Building the Real-Time Enterprise.

The real-time enterprise, says Mr. Fleisher, is a concept that will become the core focus of attention for enterprise architects and business strategists over the next few years. Companies have become process and information machines that have been stripped down and substantially rebuilt with net generation technologies. Now the engine is warming up. The key question is fast can it go? And how fast is safe or desirable? Mr. Fleisher, in his address, and Gartner analysts, throughout Symposium/ITxpo 2002, will present Gartner's initial analysis of this emerging endeavor and provide a roadmap for organizations to follow.

Following the real-time enterprise panel, president and CEO of Cisco Systems, John Chambers, will be the first Mastermind Keynote Interview of Symposium/ITxpo 2002.

Other Mastermind Keynote Interviews during the week are:

Tuesday, October 8
Carly Fiorina, Chairman and CEO, Hewlett-Packard Company
Craig Barrett, CEO, Intel Corporation
Scott McNealy, Chairman and CEO, Sun Microsystems

Wednesday, October 9
Michael S. Dell, Chairman and CEO, Dell
Steve Ballmer, CEO, Microsoft Corp.

Thursday, October 10
